We are not educating kids to have a holistic perspective about life. Will that fix everything? Nope, but it might be a start. Also I feel like the emphasis on individualism means there is no real sense of shame or belonging in this society. When you have those two, a person who lacks empathy but still cares a great deal about status may be less easily radicalized.
